Idea of the Month: The Monday Connection
back
Purpose
To encourage & equip Christians for their varied workplace callings.

Summary
Congregants following common callings (i.e., similar occupations), gather monthly to reflect on a real-life work problem, a case study, through the eyes of faith.

Steps
1. Identify a monthly time and location (e.g., 7-8 A.M. the first Monday of every month at Denny's).

2. Presenter writes up a brief, 1-2 paragraph, statement of the problem concluding with a focus question, something that sharpens the collective reflection.

3. During the Sunday service before the meeting, the presenter-to-be listens with care for insights into the case study.

4. Upon arriving at the Monday morning meeting,

  • Open with prayer
  • Distribute and review the case study
  • Ask clarifying questions of the presenter
  • Look for connections to the previous day's service
  • Share from similar past experiences
  • Identify a volunteer to present at next month's meeting
  • Close with prayer

Tips
-
Run the sessions between September & June
- Invite the facilitator to review the case study in advance and to identify a relevant Biblical passage
